2017
HISTORY
The 9th Annual Classic hosted 21 teams as well as the tournament's first ever Play-In. 3 teams had to best opponents in 3-game Play-In series to secure a Pool Play berth on July 29. That Saturday featured beautiful weather, with incredible play to match. Pool Play had an unbelievable amount of walk-off victories, most notably a 1-0 pitcher's duel that gave Ty Pribramsky the W over Deliveries in Rear's Joey Kamm in extra innings, allowing the Lil' Boys to escape with a Playoff berth. On the Rocks ace Sam Rolfe gave an unorthodox, yet charismatic post-game interview that will be replayed for years to come. The Raiders secured a top Playoff seed with stifling defense, yet fell in the semifinal to Pax Americana, a traveling team and 2017's eventual champions. Led by switch-hitting pitcher Johnny Haimes and the team's sole vet Brian Kelly - as well as the tallest defense in Classic history - Pax proved too much for Jared Taute and Hot Dogs in the Outfield, as the Dogs were shutout 3-0 in the final. Pax Americana finished undefeated, and Haimes was awarded the Golden Slipper MVP.
